Anyango – ‘Kilimanjaro’

Anyango is the stage name of Mukoyama Eriko, the world’s first female nyatiti player. (The nyatiti is an East-Afircan string instrument traditionally played by men only.) Her fourth album Kilimanjaro came our last Fall and mixes the acousitc nyatiti with some electronic backing. I tend to prefer the more acoustic, live performances but this does have some great tracks on it. Anyango recently returned from another extended tour in Africa and should have some local live shows scheduled soon.
