I went to a nice gig at Naru in Ochanomizu last Friday. Bassist Norihide Shiota was starting a three-night stay at Naru with a different liineup each night. Friday was an unusual sextet inlcuding three alto-sax players. Really swinging though and a great Monk cover in the middle of the set. Shiota-san just came back from 10+ years living in New York so I got to catch up with him soon for a chat. (Video is from a gig in November, couldn’t get any footage from last Friday!)
