Parade

Parade opened just last year in 2024 in the east side of Tokyo, just a short walk from Morishita subway station. A small, cozy and bright cafe, at first it doesn’t seem like a jazz spot, but upon sitting down the records in succession were Ella Fitzgerald, then the Hank Jones Trio. (Near the bathroom I spotted a full shelf of deep jazz records too).

There is thankfully non-caffeinated coffee on the menu (happy surprise for me!) as well as some cake and tea options, even a couple of different beers. Parade has a couple rules in place in order to keep things quiet so don’t be noisy or use your computer/phone when in there (The rules are posted in both Japanese and English on the front door). The volume is kept fairly low and the overall vibe is one for relaxed listening, as it says on the sleek sign outside.

It was a little busy when I visited so didn’t really have the chance to speak with owner Akao-san, but she responded fairly quickly on Instagram if you need to get in touch. I’ll update here further once I can visit Parade again. Open from 1300-2100, closed Sundays.
