Eric Harland’s Voyager – ‘Vipassana’

Eric Harland is one of the top jazz drummers currently on the scene, though limiting him to ‘jazz’ would be misleading. He’s played with a diverse number of musicians and in his own project Voyager you can hear many different influences.

‘Vipassana’ is one of last year’s best albums, another one to present to people who think there is nothing new going on in ‘jazz’. It’s an album that sound completely contemporary (with hip-hop & electronic elements) but is also still swinging in the ‘jazz’ sense..if that makes sense! Three tracks featured on episode 6 of OK Jazz (dropping April 18th); ‘Vi’, ‘Eminence’ and ‘Singularis’.
