Jazz Room Stick is a unique place, owned by the wonderfully jovial Wariya-san. The room is dominated by the print on the back wall, a photo of fusion-era funky Miles Davis and Jack DeJohnette.

Directions: 
Go in to the small block of streets calles "Moa" behind Studio Alta, Shinjuku. (Studio Alta is the building with the huge video screen that you see when you come out of the My City JR Shinjuku exit). Jazz Room Stick is on a little alleyway off of Moa Chuo-Dori (Mos Central Street) DIRECTLY behind the Studio Alta building. Keep a look out for the black and yellow sign.

Directions: 
Milestone is easy to find if you know where Ben`s Cafe is; just look left before the Library for the Blind, and you`ll see the sign on the right side. If it`s your first time in Baba, come out of the JR station and turn right at the `Big Box`. Head up the street and turn left on the street past Peacock supermarket. Walk down and take the right at the end of the street and walk up about 100 meters. Then on the left side you`ll see a big grey building with odd chains on it; that`s the library for the blind. Milestone is easy to spot by looking left.

"Mono-no-aware" (物の哀れ) is a Japanese phrase which resists clear translation. It is often defined in English as "an emptahy towards things" or "the subtle awareness of ephemera".

Directions: 
Come out JR Shinjuku station at the East-South exit. Go down the steps and walk on the left side along the overpass on your right. About three buildings down you'll see the hanging blue sign for the Samurai, right before a noddle shop. Go up the three steps and take the rickety elevator to the 5th floor. Miyazaki-san is usually there by 6 on weekdays and 3 on Saturdays, but call first just to make sure.
