My website is www.interjazz.com/jimbutler, so you can grab any info you want off there. And, I'd be glad to send you any additional photos/info you might want. The cool thing about the B-Flat Club (www.bflat.jp/home) is, there's NO COVER CHARGE that night, through a special deal I worked out with the owner, Suzuki san. It's got a fantastic grand piano and is located next to Akasaka Station. Django (www.swing@jazzclubdjango.com) is a really intimate, hip Central Tokyo vibe, is located next to Sendagi Station. Manhattan (www.ateliermw.com/manhattan), a 5 minute walk from Asagaya Station, is in that cool old-fashioned style neighborhood around Setagaya. The owner used to be a touring musician and is very kind-hearted. HalfTone (http://www007.upp.so-net.ne.jp/halftone) is the most laid-back, and about a 5 min walk from Tachikawa Station (south exit). The whole Western Tokyo thing, a little more rustic but still cool. The owner, Inada san, loves jazz very much and has a very warm demeanor. Cheers, Jim

damn! i could have sworn i left a reply. wait, i DID! but it didn't "take". anyway, where was i? ahem... yes, it's a small point, but isn't b flat in akasaka? also, the other venues are all nice and cozy joints. (i've sung at django, many times at half tone, and at one all-night new year's jam session at manhattan.) manhattan and half tone, in particular, both feature a master who shows some love to the musicians. definitely worth a look-see, people!

I'm very sorry for the blunder, don't know what I was thinking! Good catch! The owners (masters) are jazz fans all! The master at Manhattan is a pianist/accordionist and the master at HT is an amature jazz guitarist. The Django master is a really nice guy too! You are right, these are all great little places!
Jim, thanks for the notice.
Jim, thanks for the notice. I'll be in touch and then get a proper post up about your tour.
Sing-or-die, you are indeed correct sir! b-flat is in Akasaka, not Asagaya..similar name but opposite side of town.
Jazz Clubs HalfTone, Django, Manhattan, and B-Flat
